Why do i have to want it for tomorrow?

Last night, when my dad and my auntie were talking on the way to dinner, my dad was saying that maybe in his next life he'll get to have a ferrari. And I was at the back seat being my cynical self thinking, damn do I still have a next life? Coz I think this life is enough. Don't we have a saying that we only live once? I like it better that way. I like the idea of not waiting for tomorrow or another life to get your luck at something and have your dreams come true. I'm not being a hypocrite here. I know I can be a lazy bug and live like a pig who eats and sleeps during vacation just to recover from the stressful 6 day work week that I have but I promise myself that 2012 will be different! This is my year! And I am not wasting time and waiting for my next life to change my stars.

So... by 2013 I will look back at my list and be ready to come up with another dream coz the ones I have for this year have come true.

WORK

I need to grow. Being 25 feels that I should be striving for the security of my future and to ensure that I can afford my lifestyle without depending on anyone. It is also having a workplace that I feel is supportive of my tomorrow and continuously engages me as an employee while providing me with the compensation and benefits that I deserve for the amount of work that I do. Most importantly is having the work-life balance and that means having enough time not only for work but for myself and relationships as well.

It is a time to have a change not only in perspective but also in my environment.

RELATIONSHIP

I had my New Year countdown with Soju's family and we lit lanterns instead of fireworks. I loved it. It was more intimate and everyone got to make their wishes while looking at their lanterns flying towards the heavens. I hope God got my lantern and listened to my wish.

I don't need a ferrari. All I want are my simple wishes. So who says I have to wait another lifetime to get what I want? 2012 here I go.

Forever Young

I refuse to grow up! I am posting one of my favorites I wrote in the past. Everyday i still think about this. I think of how to be youthful and to always remember what the important things are in my life. Screw work and the unimportant thoughts that comes into my mind. It is not my life. Here it goes...

Being grown up sometimes makes you lose sight of things. Usually they say that the older we get and the more experienced we are, that’s when we become mature, wise, and careful about our decisions. We weigh the pros and cons before making the final say. Is this always a good thing? Think of it. Or are we doing that too much already?
When we become older we have more and different sorts of responsibilities. We are expected to have a socially acceptable behavior and a grown up outlook in life. We think too much of the future and for me it is tiring. When people say, that you should align your actions with your dreams. We’re still thinking about the future and worrying in the present if what we are doing will lead us to what we want to happen. We think too much that is why when we have high school and college reunions we never get tired of reminiscing on the silly and stupid things we did because we know that’s all we can do. That was a stage in our life when we had an excuse to be reckless and irresponsible. That’s why we can’t stop talking about our youthful past. So long were the days that we do something so carefree and thoughtless without minding the consequences.
My youth was full of life and experiences I will never forget. I hope it is the same for you too. Of course, we don’t want ourselves living in the past. I still believe in the saying that we should live like today is our last. We should be able to do the things we want but sometimes circumstances makes it impossible, and we have to ask how? Maybe some of us are still able to feel the teenager in them, the rebel in them, and just be the way they are. Good for them! But for some of us we become imprisoned with our work, responsibilities, and worries that are constantly by our side like with work, family, stress, expectations, and so much more. Our head is bombarded by endless questions such as, “ When will I ever get promoted?”, “ When can I ever have the vacation that I need?”, “ Will I be able to find a partner”, “Will I get married before 30?”. Nowadays, we worry too much and I am guilty of all these things.
I don’t know about you but for me someday I wish to find how I can be carefree and youthful again full of dreams but at the same time careless of the consequences of what I do whether good or bad. I don’t know if that’s even possible.  If that can’t be done now, all I can do is hold on to my youth and grab it like my life is depending on it because it is. Besides that, I suggest that you also remember what are the truly important things in our lives so that we may never forget what we should be really thinking about and try to get rid of the rest.
