Someday



I feel like a turtle that just wants to hide under my shell
God, please don't let my foes see where I am
I know they want to imprison me for another lifetime
But I swear I have served my sentence

Those monsters have already killed the child in me
Now I only have hatred and hopelessness to give

But my foes are so heartless...

To Freedom! Cheers!





Yesterday was Independence Day. I really didn’t care about it. I was just relieved that there will be no work and I was just so happy that I get to have a breather from all the happening last Monday. It will just be a day to get away from all the worries and a time for me to spend with my two adorable puppies and of course Soju. Only today did I realize the importance of freedom when I saw my friend’s Facebook status expressing her joy in becoming free from her current employer. And I thought…. Hmmm…  Why didn’t I see it that way?

Independence has different meanings and situations for each person. Yesterday was the Philippine’s Independence in having our country freed. But Independence shouldn’t only be celebrated on June 12 every year! It should be celebrated any time!!! It should be celebrated when you’re coming out of a bad relationship, being emancipated from your parents, or being free from an employer.

I realized that I too should be grateful. Independence is being thankful for the freedom that you gain and being grateful for the horrible things that happened in the past. I should be letting go of all the hang ups and the consequences that freedom will bring. After all, we wouldn’t be valuing Freedom if we didn’t experience hardships, slavery and injustice.And independence is truly PRICELESS. Compared to what our ancestors gave up for theirs, my sacrifice is nothing.

In my case, I will celebrate my Independence Day very soon! (Better late than never). I hope that everyone will have the courage to chase after their freedom too no matter what the cost. After a very long journey, I have chased my Liberty. When will you?

Why do i have to want it for tomorrow?

Last night, when my dad and my auntie were talking on the way to dinner, my dad was saying that maybe in his next life he'll get to have a ferrari. And I was at the back seat being my cynical self thinking, damn do I still have a next life? Coz I think this life is enough. Don't we have a saying that we only live once? I like it better that way. I like the idea of not waiting for tomorrow or another life to get your luck at something and have your dreams come true. I'm not being a hypocrite here. I know I can be a lazy bug and live like a pig who eats and sleeps during vacation just to recover from the stressful 6 day work week that I have but I promise myself that 2012 will be different! This is my year! And I am not wasting time and waiting for my next life to change my stars.

So... by 2013 I will look back at my list and be ready to come up with another dream coz the ones I have for this year have come true.


WORK






I need to grow. Being 25 feels that I should be striving for the security of my future and to ensure that I can afford my lifestyle without depending on anyone. It is also having a workplace that I feel is supportive of my tomorrow and continuously engages me as an employee while providing me with the compensation and benefits that I deserve for the amount of work that I do. Most importantly is having the work-life balance and that means having enough time not only for work but for myself and relationships as well.

It is a time to have a change not only in perspective but also in my environment.

RELATIONSHIP



I had my New Year countdown with Soju's family and we lit lanterns instead of fireworks. I loved it. It was more intimate and everyone got to make their wishes while looking at their lanterns flying towards the heavens. I hope God got my lantern and listened to my wish.


I don't need a ferrari. All I want are my simple wishes. So who says I have to wait another lifetime to get what I want? 2012 here I go.

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish


I want to live Steve Job's life. I want to live his life not because he is a multi- millionaire, not because he is the co-founder and mastermind of  the great Apple computers, not because he changed the world by revolutionizing the computer industry, and not because he was responsible for creating one of the cutest and touching movies ever, Toy Story.

I want to live his life because of his approach in the world. He wasn't afraid to step out of the ordinary and turn his back to the norms and expectations of society. Screw college! Screw the job settling! Screw making safe decisions. Steve Jobs is the man!!! There are only a couple of people who aren't afraid of the future and don't depend on it too much and he is one of them. He lived in his present! And to stand in his present and look at his past. Oh man.. He has really has come a long way.

I watched him make a speech in the Stanford University graduation. The whole thing is an inspiration. I couldn't take off my eyes and ears off of it even for half a second. 


I took out a few lines that I will forever remember in my life and actually try to live and here it goes.


"It was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college but it was very very clear looking backwards 10 years later. Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.So you have to somehow trust that your dots will connect in the future. You have to trust in something.. Your gut.. your destiny.. life.. karma... whatever".

A few days back I had a conversation with some of my close friends and told them what I actually wanted to do. A few said that I should finish what I started first and then after I can pursue what i want. But looking at Steve's Jobs life, he didn't wait and he never settled. He knew what he wanted and left what he didn't want to do. It actually became the greatest decision of his life. Steve Job's had the courage to find his life, passion, and love without waiting and by the age of 25, look at him...



Enough said!


I wish I could me more like this man. I don't know how he was able to go through his journey without fear. I'm also awed by the way he stood up after his huge fall when he was fired at the company he created. And even when he got a glimpse of death, his approach to it is truly inspiring and motivating.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.



I have nothing but pure respect for this man. Steve Jobs is my idol. He is my inspiration.





So hopefully after 10 years...  After dropping off the settling part of my life and dusting off my failures, I too can connect my dots when I look back and remember my journey on how I became:

It all started last 2008 in Fort Embassy (Forgive me I am not updated anymore. It was called that during our time.) Ken asked for my number and I was too buzzed to give him the right one ( I did give him my number but with 3 or 4 extra digits! Ooooppps).  He had to ask for the right one that resulted to.........

Life Oh life...

"Every man dies. Not every man really lives", William Wallace.

Today I am half alive but each day is an opportunity to open my eyes and embrace life. Tomorrow, the day won't be too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see. 




 



Tomorrow I will be back to being the person I love, full of life and carefree.A woman who dares not waste one hour of time and who hungers for more discovery of the value of life,



I will be a writer full of inspiration and passion that I will share to the world. I may suck at spelling but that's why I will have editors to polish my masterpiece. My words will only be of truth and the opinions that will matter most will only be from my loved ones.

  Soon I will be able to achieve a happy, balanced and useful life. "Eat, Pray, and Love", is my inspiration to travel all over the country to discover myself. I will travel to India too and master praying through yoga wherein my soul will be in sync with the universe.

Going back to Bali!



After India for Yoga Training, I will go back to Bali and just surf all day and Soju can come along for the "love part" of my life( =p).
Fine soju can come along...

I still have to save up like a LOT!!!!! And still think of one more country to go to! That's why I said tomorrow but not literally tomorrow. A lot of tomorrows. hehe.

Breaking My Promise

I made a promise with my fingers and toes crossed that when I do make a blog I wouldn't write about SM Radisson Blue Hotel but sorry couldn't help it. (bwahahaha evil laugh) but I will try to be very objective.


I came to Cebu for my 3rd anniversary trip and since my boyfriend had a meeting in Radisson, I went straight there instead before we go to our real destination. I didn't really expect much from the hotel thinking that SM was the developer and we all know that SM is not known for their high end places.

The outside view of the hotel. It looks kinda old considering that it's not even a year old.


The lobby's not bad but they can do better because it looks a little empty. Maybe some really nice flower arrangement in the middle could do the trick or how about a nice little bakeshop on the side?


I like the stairs though. It looks neat.

The bed with my "Happy Anniversary" Cupcakes and poppers. Soju surprised me when I went out the bathroom.

They actually did a good job in the interior of the room. It looks high end and love the lighting. The whole bed with the pillows are cozy and comfortable and I'm really particular about that. So good job!

Soju had enough of my comments so we went down to get our complimentary breakfast. I wasn't able to take pictures though but breakfast was good. They had sausages, omelette, croissants, and some really delicious choices! One comment about the salmon though, I just took one bite and couldn't finish the rest because it wasn't fresh.

So there's my 4 hour trip in SM Radisson Blu Cebu. I rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Conclusion: Radisson Blu wasn't bad but there's still no beating Shangrila Mactan!!!! Thank you Shangrila for making our anniversary super unforgettable!
